This page is where I decide on the topic that I have chose. Below is a number questions provided by my supervisor, and my answers as well. These questions are a guidance for me in order to wisely pick a topic and for me not to get lost in the middle of the way.
Name: Pradipta Rukmawan
Class: 10.1b
Homeroom: Ibu Tiwi
Topic: Saving the environment through pcitures
What is your specific link with an Area(s) of Interaction?
- My link with one of the AoI is clear enough. I have chosen a topic that deals with the environment, thus it has a strong link with the AoI Environment. I can say this because after seeing the questions provided by the AoI and answering it carefully.
What is the goal of your personal project?
- My goal is to increase people’s awareness on the environment through pictures of the worsening nature. By doing this, I hope I can reach their heart and have them join to save the nature they live in.
What is your personal motivation to set this goal to your topic?
- I was motivated to do something, even just a small thing, to save the world I’m living in. I realized that the world is suffering when I was in fifth grade, and have been trying to contribute as much as I can.
What form of presentation do you have in mind? Give a brief description, if necessary.
- From many different kind of presentation I was offered or suggested, I have chosen to present it in a form of photos. These photos later, will be compiled in one copy of book. I’ll make a copy of 20 books and distribute it within my community.
What kind of materials do you require for this project?
- After analyzing and doing some research, the materials for my project is within a level of medium-high price. First, all I need is my beloved Fujitsu and my personal custom computer. Second, I need some sort of transportation for me to get to the destination of the nature reserves. Last and most important, is a camera, either a digital camera or a SLR camera. Both are fine, but I prefer SLR camera for higher and clearer quality.
What are your expectations of the supervisor for your particular project?
- I prefer a supervisor that has a lot of experience. By this I’m referring to those who excel in a broad experience. I need a supervisor that understands photography and how a photo book should look like. And last, I expect that they can scrutinize my work.
Is your goal SMART?
- SMART is an abbreviation of Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Reasonable, and Time Frame. According to these categories, I have come to a conclusion that my goal is SMART.
- I won’t answer the ‘S’ here because I have answered it countless times in other posts.
- For ‘M’, my measurement for my achievement is the number of photo books distributed. I have to at least distribute 20 books and get signatures as proof. A good quality photo book should contain a high and clean quality of photos. Photos that are blur, too disoriented, or too sharp are not good quality pictures.
- ‘A’ is a yes. I can do this because I have all the necessary materials and skills ready at hand.
- For ‘R’, I have the skills, resources, and support. The skills I need are researching, photography, and graphic design skills. I have compile all the resources and it adds up to 20 different resources. I have full support from my parents and other relatives. Friends also give full support.
- I can complete this project in one year, or eight months to be precise. The process of the project is simple enough; going to as much natures reserve and taking pictures. I also won’t need new skills, since the skills needed are basic skills except photography and graphic design. Environment deals with anything that is nature, and weather is one thing that can’t be predicted, and because of global warming, it makes it more difficult to predict.
Below is the SMART and what it means and its uses:
| Specific | Problem, Context, age targeted, AOI, community |
| Measurable | Can you measure the achievement of your goal? Explain the standard of your success! Find the standard of good product quality. |
| Achievable | Can you do it?Why? |
| Reasonable | Do you have enough skills, resources and supports? List and explain it. |
| Time Frame | Can it be covered by 1 year? Explain the process
Will you need to learn new skill? How long will it take? When will you learn it? Will your project depending on weather or any unpredicted environment or condition? |
